Defenders played the Seattle Sea Dragons at Audi Field in Washington. The stadium was filled with fans, and they supported their team in a big win for the Defenders, capped off with a game-winning fumble recovery by Defenders Linebacker Jamal Brooks. The fans even brought back the legend of the Beer Snake from the second iteration in 2020, and, when security broke the Beer Snake apart, fans retaliated by throwing lemons on the field. The very next play, Defenders Defensive Back Michael Joseph picked off Sea Dragons QB Ben DiNucci and took it all the way to the end zone for a pick six as the crowd erupted in celebration.  Safe to say, the Defenders' first game back was met with success. Fans packed out Audi Field, and, according to online sports betting platform BetOnline, the D.C. Defenders are the most popular team in the XFL. Usin...

Credit: Jay Biggerstaff, USA Today   On February 18, 2023, the Washington Commanders announced that they had struck a deal to bring former Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy to Washington to become their Offensive Coordinator as well as their Assistant Head Coach. Bieniemy spent 10 years in Kansas City, starting out in 2013 as their Running Backs Coach, and, in 2018, moving up to Offensive Coordinator after the previous OC, Matt Nagy, left to take a job with the Chicago Bears.  Bieniemy piloted that offense led by Quarterback Patrick Mahomes to Two Super Bowl wins, and a third Super Bowl appearance where they lost to Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The other 2 seasons they didn't make the Super Bowl? They made it to the AFC Championship Game, against the New England Patriots the first time in 2018 and against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021, taking each game to overtime before falling just short of the end goal. ...

The Beginning. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the court together in Brooklyn. Credit: Frank Franklin II, AP.. July 7th, 2019 was supposed to be the first day of a new era for the Brooklyn Nets. After an era of futility in the mid-2010's, the fruits of their suffering had finally come to fruition. In one day, they landed the 2 top free agents of 2019; Kevin Durant signed away from the Warriors, and Kyrie Irving coming with him from Boston. This was meant to be their time in the sun as one of the NBA's elite teams, a team with immediate championship hopes after Durant finished rehabilitating. Fast-forward one year, and the Nets finished below .500. You may ask "How did that happen? They were supposed to be good this year." Well, there is one word to explain; injury. Durant spent the entire year rehabilitating the Achilles Tendon injury he suffered in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals, and Irving injured his shoulder early in the season, playing only 20 games before clocki...

Credit: ESPN On January 21st, 2023, Kansas City Chiefs superstar Quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain in a playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mahomes was injured when Jaguars Outside Linebacker Arden Key tackled Mahomes to the turf using a tackle known as a "Hip-Drop Tackle." During the tackle, Key landed on Mahomes' ankle, causing the injury, as Mahomes' ankle couldn't move properly with the rest of his body as Key's body weight lied on top of it. Mahomes would end up returning to the game that the Chiefs would win. However, the very next day, Dallas Cowboys RB Tony Pollard broke his leg during another hip-drop tackle. As San Francisco 49ers Safety Jimmie Ward was bringing Pollard down, His foot got caught on the field, and his leg ended up breaking as a result. After being carted out, the Cowboys, without their 2023 Pro-Bowl Running Back, would end up losing in a game that remained close unt...
