The first was the dominance of country, touched upon in the Best Songs list I made. However, the other trend was straight up ripping off old music. Between covers, interpolations, and sampling of old music, It seems people really did not want anything original this year. As for the rules of this list, they're pretty simple. Every song on this list must have charted on the Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart, or their Bubbling Under chart, in the year 2023, meaning the song was either released or popular in the year. However, unlike my Best Songs list, there is not one song per artist rule. Some artists had such terrible years that they're deserving of multiple spots on this list. For the first time in decades, Country Music swept through the Billboard charts of the Unites States and Canada, and it wasn't even one artist's doing; sure, there was one mullet-sporting superstar whose music was inescapable in 2023, but even then, he was far from the only one on the Hot 100. Additionally, the dominant genre of years previous, Rap, took a major nosedive in 2023, struggling to gain a foothold in the charts. only the most popular stars could grab hold for more than a single week.  As for the rules of this list, they're pretty simple (unlike the year's Hot 100 charts.)
